Woman Wants Apology From Wawa Chain After Being Accused Of Shoplifting

A woman accused of shoplifting from a Wawa in Williamstown, N.J. wants an apology. Then woman claims an associate mistook her for someone who’d been kicked out of the store previously. Bernardine Rochelle’s attorney said the associate approached Rochelle and accused her. “The associate told Rochelle that she remembered Rochelle’s big afro from a prior occasion when she was stealing,” the attorney said. It’s also reported in a statement that the associate said, “I put you out last week and you’re back here again, stealing.”

Rochelle received a $100 gift card from Wawa days after the incident with a a card that said, “A token of our appreciation for your loyalty as a valued Wawa customer.” However, Rochelle wants a public apology.
