Serena Williams is the center of attention after her US Open Final loss to 20 year old Naomi Osaka. Serena got into a heated disagreement with the umpire during the match after he accused her from receiving coaching from the sidelines. “I don’t cheat to win. I’d rather lose,” Serena explained to the umpire before demanding an apology. Serena, ultimately lost the game because the umpire called verbal abuse. She was fined $4k for her allegedly sideline coaching, $3k for smashing her racket, and $10k for the exchange of words with the umpire.
Social media erupted after the game, many people calling Serena a ‘core loser’, but even more coming to her defense. During a press conference, Serena addressed the sexism she faces and that she’s seen men express more emotion during matches and never be questioned.
