Influential fashion designer, Kate Spade, was found dead in her NYC apartment earlier this week. Her husband, Andy Spade, recently spoke to the NYTimes about his wife’s untimely death, “ate suffered from depression and anxiety for many years. She was actively seeking help and working closely with her doctors to treat her disease, one that takes far too many lives. We were in touch with her the night before and she sounded happy.”

Spade also explained that the couple had been living separately for the past 10 months but still acted very much like a family for the sake of their daughter. They had dinners and took trips together as a family. He also said they never discussed getting a divorce.

Kate Spade, 55, left a suicide note, found by law enforcement. In the note, the designer tells her daughter show loves her, “Bea – I have always loved you. This is not your fault. Ask Daddy!”
