According to Page Six and an interview with People, Cosby Show actor, Geoffrey Owens attributes the change in his income and the reason behind him taking a job at Trader Joe’s, to co-star, Bill Cosby’s sexual assault scandal. Cosby was accused of assault 50+ women and was ultimately convicted.
“Yes, it impacted me financially,” Owens told People. “At the time that the show was pulled, that did make a difference in our income.”
“That was one of the elements that led to my getting to the place where I said to myself, ‘I have to do something’ and I was thinking, ‘What can I do?’ and the answer ended up being Trader Joe’s, which is actually a wonderful situation for me in many ways.”
Since a photo of Owens working the Trader Joe’s cash register has gone viral, he’s done several interviews, including an appearance on Good Morning America and received an offer from Tyler Perry for a part in the OWN series ‘The Haves and the Have Nots’. Owens has accepted the offer.
