Falcon Heights Celebrates The Life and Legacy Of Philando Castile

The Falcon Heights community in Minnesota joined together this past weekend to celebrate the life a legacy of Philando Castile, who was shot down by Jeronimo Yanez, a St. Anthony police officer on July 6 2016.  The City Counsel name July 6 “Restoration Day” and July 7 “Unity Day”. On Friday evening, a quiet candle light vigil was held at the State Fairgrounds where Castile passed away and on Saturday the community came together for a BBQ. This weekend is the second anniversary of Castile’s death. “The city needed to officially acknowledge the tragedy,” said Melanie Leehy, city counsel member. “It will take more than a verbal acknowledgment, of course. But we needed to acknowledge it.”
